Electrospun F18 Bioactive Glass/PCL—Poly (ε-caprolactone)—Membrane for Guided Tissue Regeneration

Barrier membranes that are used for guided tissue regeneration (GTR) therapy usually lack bioactivity and the capability to promote new bone tissue formation. However, the incorporation of an osteogenic agent into polymeric membranes seems to be the most assertive strategy to enhance their regenerative potential. Here, the manufacturing of composite electrospun membranes made of poly (ε-caprola...

Guided Tissue Regeneration: A Review

The objective of tis sue replacement is to recreate or regenerate the loss or damaged structure and to mimic as closely as possible the original form and function. The grafting material should be biocompatible to the host receiving the graft at the hard and soft tissue interfaces [1]. The host tissue has a potential for damage and rejection of the graft. The clinician must determine the objecti...

Guided tissue regeneration membranes for periodontal regeneration--a literature review.

Guided tissue regeneration materials were reviewed in this paper and can be categorized as non-resorbable and bioabsorbable. Both materials have been used extensively in periodontal regeneration with no difference in the clinical outcome. Selection of barrier material depends on resorbability, size of the defect, morphology of the defect, operator preference and patient acceptance.

Electrospun silk fibroin/poly(lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) nanofibrous scaffolds for bone regeneration

BACKGROUND Tissue engineering has become a promising therapeutic approach for bone regeneration. Nanofibrous scaffolds have attracted great interest mainly due to their structural similarity to natural extracellular matrix (ECM). Poly(lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (PLCL) has been successfully used in bone regeneration, but PLCL polymers are inert and lack natural cell recognition sites, and the su...
